Opera PMS pricing and what a small hotel pays per year
Oracle does not publish Opera PMS pricing, so the numbers come from review sites, and they disagree. One source shows a $700 monthly base, another estimates $2,000 to $5,000 a month for the enterprise product, and a third benchmarks $15 to $60 per room per month for cloud deployments. Add an estimated $5,000 to $20,000 for data migration and setup, and a small hotel can face a five figure first year. Innkeeper publishes every plan: an 8 to 30 room property pays $888 a year on the Hotel plan with the booking engine, channels and deposits included.
How much does Oracle Opera PMS cost?
Opera is sold through Oracle and certified resellers on a quote. Here are the figures that circulate:
| Source type | Figure shown | What it likely means |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel comparison site | $700 a month base, no free trial | A starting figure for the PMS, scope not stated |
| Software directory estimate | $2,000 to $5,000 a month | Enterprise deployment for a larger property |
| Same directory, add-on modules | $500 to $3,000 a month | Modules such as sales and catering or revenue tools |
| Same directory, services | $5,000 to $20,000 one time | Data migration and setup |
| Per room benchmark | $15 to $60 per room per month | Cloud deployments, depends on rooms and modules |
| Software Advice | Pricing on request | No public number |
Treat all of it as a planning range. The only number that counts is a written quote for your room count.
What the price is meant to cover
Opera is built for hotels with several departments, a sales team and IT staff. It covers reservations, front office, housekeeping, sales and catering, rate and inventory control and multi-property reporting. A 10 to 30 room owner-run inn usually needs a narrower set: tape chart, channel sync, housekeeping board, invoices and a booking button on the website.
If the modules you need sit in a higher tier or a separate license, your real price is the bigger number, not the starting figure on a listing.
What to ask for in a written Opera quote
- Whether the price is per room, per user or flat, and what happens when you add rooms.
- Which modules are in the base price and which are add-ons, including the booking engine and channel connections.
- The one-time cost of implementation, data migration and training.
- Included staff users and the price of each extra user.
- Annual support and maintenance, and whether upgrades are included.
- Card processing and any per-transaction fee.
- The contract term, renewal terms and notice period to cancel.
Listings say there is no free trial, so confirm how you can test the product before paying. The one question that settles the comparison is the 12 month total: subscription, implementation and every module you need to sell rooms. Read the auto-renewal and notice clauses carefully, and if you keep several vendor agreements, contract management software can flag renewal dates before they pass.
Opera PMS cost per year by room count, next to Innkeeper
Opera has no price list, so the middle columns use the lowest and a mid public monthly figure: $700 a month ($8,400 a year) and $2,000 a month ($24,000 a year). One-time migration and setup are left out of the table because estimates vary so widely.
| Rooms | Opera at $700 a month, per year | Opera at $2,000 a month, per year | Innkeeper billed yearly | Innkeeper paid monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | About $8,400 | About $24,000 | $288 (Inn) | $588 (Inn) |
| 20 | About $8,400 | About $24,000 | $888 (Hotel) | $1,788 (Hotel) |
| 30 | About $8,400 | About $24,000 | $888 (Hotel) | $1,788 (Hotel) |
| 50 | Quote needed | Quote needed | $2,988 (Boutique) | $5,988 (Boutique) |
| 80 | Quote needed | Quote needed | $2,988 (Boutique) | $5,988 (Boutique) |
Read it honestly. Opera's real price may land lower or higher for your property, and a per-room benchmark of $15 to $60 would put a 20 room hotel between $3,600 and $14,400 a year. Even at the low end that is several times Innkeeper's $888 a year on the Hotel plan, and Innkeeper includes the booking engine and channel manager that Opera may bill separately.
When Opera is still the right system
If you run a large hotel or resort with sales and catering, a revenue manager, loyalty integrations and an IT team, Opera's depth is what you pay for. We do not offer sales and catering, restaurant point of sale or an open API, and a property that needs them should not switch to Innkeeper.
For an owner-run inn, B&B, motel or small hotel the picture changes. You need to avoid double bookings, take direct reservations without commission, keep housekeeping moving and send accurate invoices. That is a lighter system, and paying enterprise rates for it is the main reason small owners look at alternatives.
Where Innkeeper fits on price
Innkeeper is a cloud PMS for owner-run inns, motels, B&Bs and small hotels up to 80 rooms. Every plan is on the hotel PMS pricing page: Inn at $49 a month for up to 10 rooms, Hotel at $149 for up to 30 rooms and Boutique at $499 for up to 80 rooms, or about half that billed yearly. There is no setup fee and no booking commission.
If you are leaving Opera, see the Opera PMS alternative page for the side by side table and the four switching steps, or compare the Cloudbeds alternative and RoomRaccoon pricing if you are still deciding between cloud systems.
Opera PMS pricing questions
How much does Opera PMS cost per month?
There is no official monthly price. Review sites list about $700 a month as a base figure and estimates of $2,000 to $5,000 a month for the enterprise product. The price depends on rooms, modules and services, so ask for a written quote.
Does Oracle publish Opera PMS pricing?
No. Oracle and its resellers quote per property, and third-party sites show figures that differ widely. Get a written 12 month total before you compare it with any published price.
Is there a free trial of Opera PMS?
Listings say there is no free trial and no free plan. Ask Oracle or your reseller how you can test it. Innkeeper has a live demo you can open without a sales call, and plans with no lock-in.
Is Opera PMS cheaper than Innkeeper?
For a property up to 30 rooms, even the lowest listed figure of $700 a month is about $8,400 a year, against Innkeeper's $888 a year on the Hotel plan billed yearly. Oracle may quote differently for a particular property, so get the written total before you decide.
What is a cheaper alternative to Opera PMS for a small hotel?
For an inn, B&B, motel or small hotel up to 80 rooms, a cloud PMS with a published price and the booking engine and channels inside the plan is the cheaper route. Innkeeper starts at $288 a year for up to 10 rooms, and Hotel at $888 a year covers up to 30.
